My newest nephew

My oldest brother Louis and his wife Christina recently had the newest addition to the Makatura clan. Brody is currently five weeks old and super cute if you ask me. ...but don't take my word for it.....

I'm also including a couple of shots of his room. The room was designed and painted by Louis. I am currently working on the designs for my new room....lol

Summer Fun In Texas

Spending time in Texas is all about finding ways to keep cool. I spent a lot of my time there enjoying the central air of my various family and friends houses. ...but sometimes you have to go outside, and for those moments water is essential. Here are a few shots of some of our water logged activities.

Munich

The second stop on our tour was Munich, Germany. This is perhaps the most green city I have seen. It is like you are in a giant park that happens to have buildings in it. The image with the figures in on 2 levels is called the "Rathaus glockenspiel". Meaning clock show. Three times a day it re-enacts two famous celebrations from the 16th century. ..it is quite the tourist spot. I had a day off to walk around this lovely city and I spent most of the afternoon in the town center. This area was heavily bombed during WWII. They have renovated the downtown to replicate to styles of the original buildings. It is really lovely. Classical architecture with the sheen of the 20th century. Munich is the richest city in Germany and one of the most expensive cities to live in. There are loads of designer shops and well dressed people.

There is a river that runs through the town and everyday people hang out on the various beaches. Suntanning and swimming in the chilly river water. I spent an afternoon on one of the cities pebble beaches and it was truly relaxing. There was also one area where the river was really rapid and rough and people were using the chance to surfboard!

Too much fun!

It is definitely worth spending a few days there if you ever get the chance.

Big Art Group - S.O.S.

I am currently working on 2 shows with BAG. We are going to be creating another new piece in the fall but I thought I would give you an insight to our current shows. The pics don't show the full stage, there are 2 more screens on the outside of the shot.

Enjoy!

Toulouse, France

The next stop on my adventure was Toulouse. It is in the south of France, closer to Madrid than Paris. It is two hours from the Mediterranean Sea and it is a wonderful place. This was the first stop on my latest tour with Big Art Group. Toulouse has around million people, but it feels like a small town. It has a huge college population. The school there was established in 1229. It has 90,000 students in the town and it definitely has the night life to show it. The small streets are flooded at night and there are people hanging out all along the river. The atmosphere is very laid back, people take at least 1 1/2 hour lunches and usually 2 hours for dinner!

Dan and I spent our free time wandering around the small streets and enjoying the shuttered windows and iron balconies. There are several nice parks there and a 2 story carousel. Our favorite part was the river and the system of canals that run throughout the town. They are tree lined and give a peace to the city. The last night we were there, the city had an art festival at the park across from the theatre. They had a lot of different projections and music and everyone had a lovely time.
